Product Pricing
Managing product pricing effectively helps you maintain consistent invoicing and adapt to business changes.
Standard Pricing
Each product has a standard price that you set when creating it. This is the default price used when you add the product to an invoice. You can override this price on individual invoices as needed.
Price Variations
If you have different price points for the same product, consider creating separate products for each variation:
- "Web Design Package - Basic" at £500
- "Web Design Package - Premium" at £1,000
- "Web Design Package - Enterprise" at £2,500
This keeps your pricing clear and makes it easy to select the right option when invoicing.
Changing Product Prices
When you update a product's price, the change only affects future invoices. Existing invoices that used the product will keep the old price - this preserves the accuracy of your historical records and ensures clients aren't confused by price changes on past invoices.
Currency Handling
Each product has an associated currency. When you add a product to an invoice, LoveInvoice will check that the invoice currency matches the product currency. If they differ, you'll need to either:
- Change the invoice currency
- Manually adjust the price for this invoice
- Create a version of the product in the correct currency
Price Overrides
You can override a product's price on any invoice. This is useful for:
- Offering discounts to specific clients
- Applying promotional pricing
- Adjusting for special circumstances
- Handling one-off pricing arrangements
The override only affects that specific invoice and won't change the product's standard price.
