Sending an Invoice
Now that you have clients set up (and optionally products too), you're ready to send your first invoice.
Creating a New Invoice
Navigate to the Invoices section and click "Create Invoice". You'll see the invoice editor where you can build your invoice.
Adding Invoice Details
Start by filling in the basic information:
- Client - Select the client you're invoicing from your list
- Invoice number - LoveInvoice will automatically generate one, but you can customise it
- Issue date - When the invoice was created
- Due date - When payment is expected (LoveInvoice can suggest common terms like "Net 30")
Adding Line Items
Add the items you're charging for:
- If you've set up products, select them from the dropdown
- Otherwise, enter a description, quantity, and price manually
- You can add as many line items as needed
Each line item shows a subtotal, and LoveInvoice calculates the total automatically.
Adding Notes and Terms
You can include additional information on your invoice:
- Notes to client - A personal message or payment instructions
- Terms and conditions - Your standard payment terms or policies
These fields are optional but can help ensure clear communication with your clients.
Previewing Your Invoice
Before sending, click "Preview" to see how your invoice will look to your client. This is a good time to check that everything is correct and the design looks as you intended.
Sending the Invoice
When you're happy with your invoice, click "Send". LoveInvoice will email it directly to your client using the email address on their profile. You'll be able to track when they view and pay the invoice from your dashboard.
Saving as Draft
If you're not ready to send yet, you can save the invoice as a draft and return to it later. Draft invoices appear in your invoices list but won't be sent to your client.
